BANDITS

by Bill Graham

moneybags George Reeves in \ The notorious bandit, Robin Swine, was counting the seven bags of gold coins he had just acquired from holding up a stagecoach. One bag had 10 coins, another 20 coins and so on, in increments of 10 up to 70. Swine set the bags out in a line on the parched grass.

His bandit brother, Eli Zealot, rode up on a horse and demanded the three bags with the most coins. Swine labelled the bags A-G from left to right and informed Eli that his request was fine, as long as he could work out which three bags they were. So he told Eli that bags BDEG contained a total of 150 coins, ACDE had 100 coins and ABDF held 170 coins.

Which three bags should Eli take?
